France Wins First Rugby Grand Slam - 2002-04-06

France had an easy time achieving the first grand slam in the history of the Six-Nation rugby tournament with a 44-5 drubbing of visiting Ireland.

The home side proved everything but gracious to the hapless Irish in Saturday's contest at Stade de France in suburban Paris.

Excellent kicking from Gerald Merceron and two tries from Serge Betsen and Nicolas Brusque ensured France's success, following earlier wins over Italy, England, Scotland and Wales.
