As VOA's international economics correspondent, Barry Wood broadcasts on VOA radio and television on U.S. and global economic developments including financial markets, technology and corporate performance. During a three year assignment in Prague, he focused on the transformation to free markets under way in two dozen post-communist countries. He has reported extensively from East Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Barry joined VOA from Johannesburg where he spent three years covering the independence movements in Southern Africa. He comes from Grand Rapids, Michigan and was an instructor in economics and social science at Western and Northern Michigan universities. He is married with two teenage daughters and a 10-year-old son.
