The governing body of world athletics has turned to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland in a bid to force USA Track and Field to disclose the name of an athlete cleared of doping charges.
The International Association of Athletics Federations said in a statement on Thursday that it has repeatedly asked the governing body of U.S. athletics to disclose the name of the athlete and the reasons why the athlete was cleared of a doping offense prior to the Sydney Olympics in July 2000.
But USATF has refused because of confidentiality provisions in the federation's regulations and differing interpretations of IAAF rules.
