Brazilian Football Star Dropped from Team Roster

update

Star Brazilian football player Romario has been left off his country's national team for the upcoming World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari unveiled the names of his 23 World Cup players on Monday, and Romario was not among them.

A falling out between Scolari and Romario more than a year ago over discipline never healed, and the Brazilian coach is adamant about not including the star player on the national team.

Romario was one of the stars for Brazil when it won the 1994 World Cup in the United States. Most opinion polls showed Brazilians want Romario included. Among the other players named were Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Edilson, Denilson and Luizao.

Brazil, a perennial football powerhouse, is a four-time World Cup winner. But its national team had a lackluster year in South American group qualifying matches, finishing third.
