Match play continues Thursday at the Wimbledon tennis championships with the world's top men's and women's players: Lleyton Hewitt of Australia and American Venus Williams advancing.
Hewitt was leading his quarterfinal match two sets to none, but Dutch player Sjeng Schalken rallied to win the next two sets before the Australian came back to win the final set and the match 6-2, 6-2, 6-7, 1-6, 7-5.
Hewitt next takes on Britain's Tim Henman, who scored a four-set win over unseeded Brazilian Andre Sa 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Henman won the first set of the match Wednesday 6-3 before rain suspended play for the day. Sa won the second set Thursday. However, the fourth-seeded Henman recovered his form and came back to win the next two sets and the match.
Meanwhile, in the ladies' semifinals Venus Williams scored a straight-set win over the woman she defeated last year to win her second straight Wimbledon title, sixth seeded Justine Henin of Belgium 6-3, 6-2. Venus takes on the winner of a match between younger sister Serena Williams and Amelie Mauresmo of France.
Also Thursday, Nicolas Lapentti of Ecuador takes on David Nalbandian of Argentina and Belgian Xavier Malisse plays former champion Richard Krajicek in men's quarterfinal matches.
