Russian gold medal Olympic figure skating champions Anton Sikharulidze and Yelena Berezhnaya said on Friday they would sue United States television networks after their photographs were used in reports on Russian organized crime and Olympic fixing.
Sikhardulidze told NTV television that the skaters' pictures had been used in news reports that an Uzbek-born businessman had been held on charges of fixing two Olympic figure skating competitions.
With Berezhnaya standing quietly next to him at St. Petersburg's airport, Sikhardulidze said the U.S. television companies were profiting from the latest scandal in order to widen their audience.
