In National Hockey League action Wednesday, defenseman Brendan Witt snapped a 65-goal scoring drought as the Washington Capitals beat the visiting Buffalo Sabres, 3-2.
Czech superstar Jaromir Jagr and Slovak sniper Peter Bondra scored the two other goals for Washington.
In Phoenix, goaltender Sean Burke got his first win since January 3 as the Coyotes defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2. Burke has had an injury-filled season.
In the only other NHL game Wednesday, the visiting Anaheim Mighty Ducks squeaked out a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers. Czech right winger Petr Sykora got the game winner with his 24th goal of the season.
