Two VOA journalists have been awarded one of the top journalism honors in the United States - the prestigious Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
VOA Beijing correspondent Leta Hong Fincher and VOA Television editor Kathleen Schrader received the award for a TV feature report on China that is titled Traffic of Tears. In announcing the award, Sigma Delta Chi judges said the TV report provided a compelling and rare look at China and the victims of cross-border trafficking.
49 winners in several categories were selected from among 1,300 entries in the annual Society of Professional Journalists awards competition.
The awards will be presented in July at a banquet at the National Press Club in Washington.
