Musharraf to Meet with Bush - 2003-05-21

The White House announced Tuesday that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will meet with President Bush next month at Camp David.

Mr. Bush's spokesman said the president will welcome Mr. Musharraf to the U.S. presidential retreat on June 24 to discuss regional and international issues and deepen bilateral relations.

The spokesman says Pakistan is a stalwart ally in the war on terrorism.

A Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman said the talks will also focus on Iraq and the Middle East peace process.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage visited Pakistan earlier this month, where he urged Islamabad to restart peace talks with India.
