English golfer Philip Golding carded a final round 69 to earn the first European Tour victory of his career at the French Open tournament in Versailles, France.
Golding, 40, birdied the last hole to win Sunday, finishing with a 15-under-par total of 273. Another Englishman, David Howell, also fired a 69 to finish second at 274.
Golding came into the event having played 200 European PGA Tour events without a win. He never finished better than sixth and had the unenviable record of having to qualify for the tour 16 times. England's Justin Rose, who shot a 65, tied for third place with Australia's Peter O'Malley (70), a further shot back at 275.
