UNHCR struggles to cope with Liberia's Refugee flow - 2003-07-08

update

The UN Refugee Agency says its national staff in Liberia’s capital are still struggling to cope with thousands of refugees and displaced people. UNHCR spokesperson, Millicent Mutuli, says UNHCR’s logistic capacity remains very limited because of the security situation in Liberia. Ms. Mutuli says the agency has run out of supplies for the refugees. She also says there’s a bit of reluctance to send in new supplies before there is any security mechanism on the ground. Ms. Mutuli says in the meantime, the humanitarian conditions for refugees and the displaced remains appalling.
