South African golfer Ernie Els completed perfect preparations to defend his title at the British Open this week, by winning the Scottish Open tournament in Loch Lomond.
Els cruised to the five-stroke win Sunday, closing out the tournament with a two-under-par final round of 69, and finishing the event with a 17-under total of 267. It was his fifth win of the year and his second Scottish Open title.
Phillip Price of Wales and Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland also fired final round of 69 Sunday to tie for second place with totals of 272. Gary Murphy of Ireland was another two shots back and captured fourth place with a total of 274.
Els will head for Royal St. George's in England this week, as he begins defending the title he won last year at Muirfield on Thursday.
