African Football: France To Hold Match In Honor Of Cameroon's Foe - 2003-07-31

France's top professional football league says it will hold a match to honor Cameroon's late star, Marc-Vivien Foe, in November.

French football officials say the November 11 match will feature Cameroon's national team, "The Indomitable Lions," against a squad made up of Foe's former teammates from two French squads.

Proceeds from the game will go to Foe's family as well as a foundation in Foe's name.

The 28-year-old midfielder collapsed and died from a rare heart problem in June during FIFA's Confederations Cup semifinal between Cameroon and Colombia in Lyon, France.

Both the African Football Confederation, CAF, and the International Football Federation, FIFA, say they have been flooded with letters, faxes and e-mails from all over the world expressing sympathy and paying tribute to Marc-Vivien Foe.
