World MotoGP motorcycle champion Valentino Rossi of Italy ended his winless streak Sunday by winning the Czech Grand Prix in Brno. Rossi, who had gone four races without a win, edged championship rival Sete Gibernau, to extend his lead for the title to 34 points with six races remaining. Rossi finished the 22-lap, 119-kilometer MotoGP race in 44 minutes, 18.907 seconds, beating Gibernau by 0.042 seconds. Australia's Troy Bayliss was third, about 0.6 seconds back.
After 10 of the 16 races, Rossi has 212 points, while Gibernaus has 178, and Italian Max Biaggi is third with 141.
In the 250-CC race Randy de Puniet of France was the winner, while Spain's Daniel Pedrosa dominated the 125-CC race.
