Ivory Coast's President Laurent Gbagbo has asked the prime minister to put forward a list of candidates for two key ministry posts - appointments vital to moving forward with a new power-sharing government.
In a statement Saturday, President Gbagbo urged Prime Minister Seydou Diarra to present candidates for the posts of defense and security "as soon as possible."
A cabinet meeting of Ivory Coast's unity government is scheduled for Tuesday.
Ivorian rebels and government officials have been unable to agree on candidates for the two ministerial posts since adopting a French-brokered peace deal in January.
Ivory Coast's civil war erupted last September, when rebels attempted to overthrow President Gbagbo.
