Big Changes in College Football Polls Following 'Separation Saturday' - 2003-10-13


It was so-called "Separation Saturday" in American college football. So many top teams had critical games and the latest ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches poll of top teams shows there were some big changes.

Defending national champion Ohio State tumbled from third to 8th place after losing to Wisconsin. Wisconsin, on the other hand, jumped from number 22 to number 12 by beating Ohio State 17-10.

Florida State, beaten by Miami, dropped to number seven. Virginia Tech, which pounded Syracuse 51-7, moved up to third place.

Number one is still Oklahoma, and Miami stays number two, number four is now Southern California and number five is Georgia, number six is Washington State, seven is Florida State, eight is Ohio State, number nine is Iowa and number 10 is Louisiana State which was upset by Florida on Saturday.
