Car Bomb Kills 4 in Fallujah - 2003-10-28

update

A bomber struck in the town of Fallujah west of Baghdad, killing at least four others.

Iraqi police said a man driving a car in Fallujah pulled up about 100 meters from a police station, a boys' secondary school and a power station to detonate his explosives-filled vehicle.

Fallujah is a town about 65 kilometers west of Baghdad in what is known as the Sunni triangle, the stronghold of Saddam Hussein loyalists. Coalition forces face almost daily attacks in the Sunni triangle.

Four suicide bombings killed dozens of people and injured hundreds Monday in Baghdad, during the worst day of violence since major combat operations ended May 1. Three of the bombings occurred at police stations, which have become a popular target for suicide car bombers.

Coalition officials have said terrorists are likely to target anyone who is seen as siding with the coalition.
