Number 14 Wake Forest upset fourth-ranked North Carolina 119-114 in a triple overtime U.S. college basketball contest Saturday.
Wake Forest's Eric Williams hit a jumpshot with 36 seconds to go to break a tie in the third extra session, then made two game-clinching free throws with two seconds on the clock to give the Demon Deacons the win. Williams scored a total of 24 points. Wake Forest had not beaten a top 10 team on the road in six years.
There were no surprises in games featuring the three top-ranked teams. Number one Connecticut routed Iona 104-54, number two Kentucky crushed Indiana 80-41, and third-ranked Duke trounced number 11 Texas 89-61.
Other top ten winners were Kansas, Oklahoma and Stanford.
