Five Afghan security officers have been killed by a terrorist who blew himself up following his arrest.
The incident occurred near the airport serving Afghanistan's capital, Kabul.
Police say the suspect had been found carrying explosives and that, moments after being taking into custody, he detonated a concealed bomb that the officers had not noticed when apprehending him.
Police say the officers killed were all members of the security detail for Afghan Defense Minister Mohammed Fahim.
A local television report says several other suspected terrorists were at the scene when the suicide bomber was arrested, but they managed to flee. Officials say the bomber was a foreigner that Afghan security forces had been pursuing for some time, but refused to identify him further.
There is tight security throughout Kabul, as Afghanistan's constitution assembly meets to decide on the country's future system of government.
