White House Condemns Jerusalem Bombing - 2004-01-29

The White House has condemned the latest suicide bus bombing in Israel. At least 10 people were killed in the attack which occurred in downtown Jerusalem, not far from the residence of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

White House Spokesman Scott McClellan says the White House condemns the attack in the strongest possible terms. He says such acts only undermine the aspirations and hopes of the Palestinian people.

Mr. McClellan says the Bush administration once again urges the Palestinian cabinet to take steps to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure. He says fighting terrorism is the foundation for moving forward toward a Palestinian state.

President Bush's spokesman goes on to say that America's thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims. He says they have endured a terrible attack, adding all parties to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute have a responsibility to fight terrorism to the fullest extent to prevent these attacks from happening.
