Former US President Ronald Reagan Honored with State Funeral - 2004-06-09

Hundreds of dignitaries gathered at the U.S. Capitol for the state funeral of former President Ronald Reagan.

The ceremony was attended by top Bush administration officials, members of Congress and U.S. Supreme Court Justices as well as Former First Lady Nancy Reagan.

Vice President Dick Cheney spoke at the ceremony, saying that the national vigil of mourning shows how much America loved Mr. Reagan.

After the ceremony, tens of thousands of Americans are expected to pay their final respects to Mr. Reagan who will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda.

Mr. Reagan's casket arrived at the Capitol on a horse-drawn carriage after being flown in from California.

Mr. Reagan will be buried during a private ceremony Friday evening in California after a funeral service at the National Cathedral in Washington that afternoon.
