The Palestinian political crisis in the Gaza Strip entered its second week Saturday, with militants burning down a police station and briefly seizing another government building.
Officials say unidentified gunmen stormed the police station in the town of al-Zawaida, about seven kilometers south of Gaza City, smashing windows and setting the building on fire.
No one was injured, but the building was destroyed.
Meanwhile, in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, dozens of militants affiliated with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades briefly commandeered a government building and demanded Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat overturn their dismissals from security jobs.
Anger against Mr. Arafat has heightened since he reshuffled command of the security services and placed a relative in charge of the Gaza public security.
