American Musicians Go on Tour to Support Democratic Presidential Candidate Kerry - 2004-10-02

Some of America's best known musicians have come together to headline concerts aimed at getting people to vote for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

The musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, the Dixie Chicks and Jackson Brown, will perform in 33 cities in 11 key electoral states over the next two weeks.

The tour kicks into high gear Saturday, as six concerts are held in cities across Ohio.

All proceeds from the concerts will benefit the voter mobilization group America Coming Together. The independent group is targeting more than 17 million undecided and Democratic voters, hoping to persuade them to vote for Mr. Kerry.

The musicians say they are united in the belief that the country is headed in the wrong direction, and they have banded together in an effort to defeat President Bush.
