Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has arrived in the eastern city of Kisangani - his first visit to former rebel-held territories since the end of a devastating four-year war.
Hundreds of people lined up in the streets of Kisangani Saturday to welcome Mr. Kabila, whose national unity government includes former rebels.
The French News Agency quotes Mr. Kabila as telling a cheering crowd he will "accept no further aggression" in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It is not clear how long the president will remain in the east, which remains unstable and wracked by ethnic violence.
Between 1998 and 2002, the vast country was the theater of a major war that once involved troops from as many as six foreign countries.
