Austria's Marlies Schild Wins Women's Slalom in Lienz


Austrian skier Marlies Schild has won a women's World Cup slalom race in Lienz, Austria, but Croatia's Janica Kostelic has taken the season lead.

Schild finished with a combined time of 1:57.92. Countrywoman Nicole Hosp was second, 1.02 seconds back.

Kostelic finished third, 1.73 seconds behind Schild, but her placing put the Croatian atop the World Cup slalom standings.

Kostelic also leads Sweden's Anja Paerson in the overall World Cup standings with 592 points. Paerson, the defending World Cup champion, is second overall with 540 points while Austrian Michaela Dorfmeister is third with 510 points.
