United States Olympic Committee officials have scheduled a news conference for Wednesday afternoon in Denver, Colorado to announce the short list of cities still in the running as potential U.S. candidates to host the 2016 Olympics.
The five cities are Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Francisco. At least one of the cities reportedly has been cut from the list.
The USOC Board of Directors and management decided on the short list at a meeting last Friday.
Even after releasing its short list, the USOC must still decide if any of the cities can win the International Olympic Committee bid vote and whether the United States should enter a bid for the 2016 Games.
