Haitian Officers Flee Gonaives Police Station

A police station in the Haitian city of Gonaives remains empty after officers there fled an attack by armed Artibonite Resistance Front members.

There were no deaths reported in Friday's clashes, but looters moved into the police station after the officers' hasty departure. According to the Associated Press, a police spokeswoman says the whereabouts of the police officers is not known.

The city's streets are reportedly clear Saturday.

The Artibonite Resistance Front was part of a rebellion in February that forced the ouster of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

In a separate incident, a gunfight involving two rival groups reportedly broke out in Cite Soleil, a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. Shooting began Friday and continued into Saturday.
