Davydenko Beats Beck in Madrid Masters Tennis Tournament


Third-seeded Nikolay Davydenko of Russia has beaten Slovakia's Karol Beck in their second round match at the Madrid Masters tennis tournament in Spain.

The Russian knocked off Beck 6-4, 6-1 Wednesday, to set up a third-round clash with 16th-seeded American Robbie Ginepri.

Fourth-seeded Guillermo Coria of Argentina, defeated Christophe Rochus, 6-3, 6-4, but things went better for the Belgian's brother, as Olivier Rochus of Belgium defeated number 12 Mario Ancic of Croatia, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6.

Number nine Thomas Johansson of Sweden moved into the third round by beating Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina, 7-6, 6-3, while 10th-seeded Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic defeated Tim Henman of Britain in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Number 14 Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia got past Tommy Haas of Germany, 6-4, 6-2.

Seventh-seeded Gaston Gaudio of Argentina was an upset victim, falling to countryman Jose Acasuso, 7-6, 6-2.
