Ecuadorean Indians have set up roadblocks for a second day to demand that the government end free trade talks with the United States.
The protesters blocked the roads in several provinces with rubble Tuesday, saying their demonstrations will continue until the government announces it will not sign a deal.
Later this month, U.S. and Ecuadorean officials are scheduled to meet for a final round of talks on the trade deal, which covers everything from agriculture to intellectual property rights.
The demonstrators say the trade pact will put them at a disadvantage with American farmers and further disrupt Indian culture.
Ecuador, along with Colombia and Peru, began the free trade talks with the United States in May 2004. Colombia and Peru have already signed deals with Washington.
