FIFA Temporarily Lifts Yemen's Suspension

The International Football Federation has temporarily lifted its suspension against the Yemeni Football Association after the Gulf nation pledged to make changes in its operations.

FIFA suspended Yemen in August because the Yemeni government was interfering in football. The suspension included the national team and club sides playing overseas, and prevented foreign teams from playing in Yemen.

The world governing body reinstated Yemen after its association pledged to make changes, including the election of a new association president and executive committee by the end of February, 2006.

FIFA said in a statement that the suspension would be re-imposed if Yemen fails to follow through on its proposed changes.
