An international team of scientists says it has discovered bones from two species of winged dinosaurs in China that previously had only been found in Europe.
In a report published in the British science magazine Nature, the paleontologists say they uncovered the 120-million-year-old remains of two species of pterosaur. The animals were a kind of lizard that had the ability to fly.
Researchers found the remains in northeast China's famously fossil-rich Jehol area of Liaoning Province. The area is known for its diverse array of fossils that have made important contributions toward understanding the evolutionary links between birds, reptiles and their prehistoric ancestors.
