Italian Police Arrest Head of Naples Crime Family

update

Police in Naples have arrested the head of one of the city's main organized crime families after a three-year manhunt.

Paolo Di Lauro is allegedly the head of one of the Camorra clans that control drug trafficking in the Naples area as well as other illegal activities. He was arrested Friday in a poor northern suburb of Naples. The Camorra is the name of the Naples equivalent of the Sicilian Mafia.

Police say they hope the arrest will end a turf war between Camorra gangs that has led to the deaths of at least 50 people over the past year.

Mr. Di Lauro was officially charged with drug trafficking, along with other crimes.
