Palestinians Survey Gaza Damage in Wake of Israeli Incursion

Palestinian officials say around 100 homes were destroyed during Israel's 17-day offensive in the northern Gaza Strip, and that many residents are without power or water.

Residents of the Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza sifted through the rubble Saturday - one day after Israel pulled its troops and tanks out of the area. More than 100 Palestinians were killed during the incursion. Three Israelis also died.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia said the offensive is part of an "Israeli plan to bring our people to their knees," but he said this will not happen.

Israel began the incursion after Palestinian militants fired homemade rockets into a nearby Jewish town***, killing two toddlers. An Israeli spokesman says Israel is prepared to launch further incursions if the attacks continue.
