School Children Among 25 Injured in Indian Kashmir Blast

update

Bystanders help evacuate wounded from the site of the explosion
Police in Indian Kashmir say at least 25 people, mostly children, were wounded when a grenade exploded near a missionary school in Srinagar Thursday.

Police suspect Muslim militants lobbed the grenade at a security vehicle, but missed. The grenade exploded at the gate of the school just as children were coming out.

Wednesday, a car bomb blast in a residential area of Srinagar killed six people and injured more than 40 others.

Muslim militants in Indian Kashmir have continued sporadic attacks despite 18 months of peace talks between India and Pakistan.

Several groups have been fighting for Kashmir's independence or its merger with Pakistan since 1989. The insurgency has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
