A federal jury in Manhattan on Tuesday found an immigrant from Bangladesh guilty of terrorism for setting off a pipe bomb in the New York subway last year.
Akayed Ullah, 28, could be sentenced to life in federal prison.
The Dec. 11, 2017, blast injured three people, but set off a panic when smoke from the bomb filled a pedestrian tunnel between two of the busiest subway stations.
The defense said Ullah only wanted to kill himself and had no intention of hurting others.
Prosecutors, however, called him a "cold and calculated" lone wolf attacker working on behalf of Islamic State.
