US President Joe Biden said Monday it was no longer the United States’ responsibility to fight in Afghanistan’s civil war, despite disturbing scenes of the Taliban overtaking the capital city of Kabul over the weekend. Biden warned the Taliban of swift retaliation if remaining US personnel and Afghan allies were attacked as the United States brought the nearly twenty-year conflict to a close.
