Farmers Cultivate Harvest-time Entertainments

Growing food is the main job of agriculture. But in the United States, the increasing proximity of cities to farm operations offers growers the chance to cultivate another crop: harvest-time entertainment.

That can range from pick-your-own pumpkin patches to haunted houses featuring the familiar zombies and ghosts of Halloween, the annual celebration of the macabre.

However, among the most popular is the leafy labyrinth called the corn maze.

More than 100,000 people pay to get lost at the Denver Botanic Garden, making its maze one of the most popular in the United States.

VOA's Shelley Schlender reports from Denver, Colorado.
