An aide to Aung San Suu Kyi says a major movie about the Burmese democracy activist may be in the works with Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh in the leading role.

Lawyer Nyan Win said Tuesday that Yeoh, best known for her role as a Chinese spy in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, spent a full day earlier this week with the recently released opposition leader to prepare for the role.

Yeoh sat in a waiting room Tuesday with Aung San Suu Kyi and her son Kim Aris before Yeoh and Aris boarded a flight. Aris had been visiting his mother following her release from house arrest last month.

Nyan Win said he understood the film is to be made soon, but could not provide details. Yeoh also played a lead role in Ang Lee's 2000 movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which won four Academy Awards.
