U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke out against hate and discrimination on Friday, the 19th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre of 8,000 Muslim males during the Bosnian civil war.
Kerry issued a statement saying the anniversary is about more than keeping alive the memories of the victims -- it also is saying loudly and clearly "no more, never again."
He vowed the U.S. will work for the end of bloodshed and human misery.
The Srebrenica massacre was Europe's worst atrocity against civilians since the Nazi Holocaust of World War II.
Bosnian Serb forces overran what was supposed to be a U.N. safe haven on July 11, 1995 and murdered 8,000 Muslim men and boys. Their bodies were thrown into mass graves.
Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic is on trial at the Hague on genocide charges.
