Obama: Being a Man Takes Courage

U.S. President Barack Obama says he tries every day "to be the husband and father my family didn't have when I was young."

Obama reflected Saturday in his weekly address on the impact fathers can have in the lives of their children, as the U.S. prepares to observe Father's Day on Sunday.

The president did not grow up with his father and said he "felt the weight" of his father's absence.

He urged fathers to become more involved in their children's lives and to serve as mentors for children who do not have fathers around.

In the Republican address, Senator Tom Coburn said the president must nominate a capable and experienced secretary to clean up the Veterans Affairs Department.
