Lawyers for Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf say he has been disqualified from running in upcoming parliamentary elections.

Last week Musharraf was disqualified from running in three of the four districts he had applied to run in because he had suspended Pakistan's constitution while in power, however a judge in the northern district of Chitral allowed his candidacy to proceed.

That decision was overturned on Tuesday by a three judge panel after it was challenged in court by a local lawyer. Musharraf can appeal the decision to Pakistan's supreme court.

Musharraf returned to Pakistan recently after four years of self-imposed exile. He ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008.
