Pakistan Court Orders Musharraf's Arrest

A Pakistani court has rejected the bail request of former president Pervez Musharraf and has ordered his arrest for dismissing judges when he was in power in 2007.

Police made no immediate move to arrest the former military ruler when he left the Islamabad courtroom Thursday flanked by his bodyguards.

Authorities say Mr. Musharraf was driven to his farm house on the outskirts of Islamabad.

It was not immediately clear when or if the former president would be arrested.

Mr. Musharraf seized power in a military coup in 1999. He was forced to step down in 2008 under threat of impeachment.

He lived in self-imposed exile for about four years before returning to Pakistan, late last month, with plans to run for parliament in general elections next month.
