Rwanda's ruling party has won a landslide victory in Monday's parliamentary poll, as expected.
The country's electoral commission says the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) of President Paul Kagame captured more than 76 percent of the vote.
The opposition Social Democrats were a distant second with 13 percent, followed by the Liberals with 9.4 percent.
According to the Rwandan News Agency, voter turnout for the election was about 75 percent.
The results mean Mr. Kagame's party will retain its strong hold on parliament. The RPF controlled 42 of the 53 elected seats in the outgoing parliament.
The remaining 27 seats in the 80-member parliament are reserved for women, youth and disabled representatives. Those lawmakers will be appointed by local and national councils this week.
The RPF and President Kagame have remained popular as the country enjoys stability and strong economic growth. Rwanda is still recovering from the 1994 genocide, in which Hutu extremists killed an estimated 800,000 people.
