1 Dead in Shooting in New Orleans' French Quarter

New Orleans Police say a man has died following a shooting in the French Quarter.

Police said in a statement Sunday morning that multiple victims were involved in the shooting that happened at the intersection of Iberville and Bourbon streets. On Twitter, the New Orleans Police Department said that 10 people were shot.

Later, on Facebook, Police Chief Michael Harrison said shots were fired just before 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Bourbon Street.

Ten people were shot, ranging in age from 20-37, two were women and eight were men, one of whom died.

No motive is known yet for the shooting.

This is Bayou Classic weekend in New Orleans, and Harrison said more officers were on patrol. The Bayou Classic the annual college football game between Grambling State University and Southern University.

They say a victim identified as a male died at the hospital. No further information was immediately available.
