Amid the ongoing fighting in Syria, suicide bombers have attacked a hotel being used for local administration in the Kurdish town of Qamishli.
Sources in Qamishli told VOA's Kurdish service that eight people were killed.
A local official said several attackers wearing explosive belts shot guards outside the building and then walked in and hurled grenades before detonating their explosives.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but suspicion fell on the group called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
The Islamist group, while active against Syrian government forces, has also been fighting against rival rebel factions and Kurdish militias in battles that have killed hundreds of people.
Qamishli is Syria's largest Kurdish-majority city. During the past three years of Syria's civil war, the country's Kurds have declared their own administration in areas under their control in Syria's northeast.
