UN Convoy Attacked in Eastern Chad

UN statement says assailants commandeered one of the vehicles

The United Nations says a U.N. logistics convoy was attacked by unidentified armed gunmen in southeastern Chad.

A U.N. statement says three civilian vehicles were attacked Sunday while traveling on the road from Goz Beida to KouKou Angarana.

The statement says the assailants commandeered one of the vehicles, but it adds that a security escort accompanying the convoy was deployed and was able to retrieve it.

The U.N. says one officer was injured during the ensuing gunfight.
