It's an uneasy night on Bermuda as Hurricane Humberto lashes the island with fierce winds and heavy rains.
Humberto is a strong Category 3 storm with top sustained winds of 195 kilometers (120 miles) per hour. The storm came within (120 km) 75 miles of the island before moving east-northeast at 37 kph (23 mph). Bermudans were urged to stay indoors until Thursday, when tropical storm-strength winds would still be felt.
Bermuda's National Security Minister Wayne Caines ordered everyone off the streets as evening approached. All non-emergency medical procedures in Bermuda's hospitals are postponed and evening flights to and from the island have been canceled.
Meanwhile another hurricane, Lorena, is threatening Mexico's Pacific Coast. With maximum sustained winds of 120 kph (75 mph), Lorena was expected to pass near or over Mexico's southwestern coast near Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta.
