He lost the presidency in a poll he claims was rigged and that was marred by violence, but this head of state dropped his court battle to overturn the poll, and is now enjoying a quiet retirement in his lakeside mansion. In this exclusive interview with Malawi’s recently departed president, Peter Mutharika, VOA’s Anita Powell talks about how Southern Africa’s poorest nation is facing political troubles and the continued onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic.
