10-01-13 DBA CLOTTEY - UGANDA-TREASON CHARGES

FOUR UGANDAN SOLDIERS ACCUSED OF SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING PLOTTING TO OVERTHROW PRESIDENT YOWERI MUSEVENI, ARE UNLIKELY TO RECEIVE A FAIR TRIAL, ACCORDING TO THEIR ATTORNEY, LADISLAUS RWAKAFUUZI. THE COURT HAS SCHEDULED OCTOBER 18 AS THE TRIAL DATE FOR THE ACCUSED. IF CONVICTED, THE FOUR COULD BE SENTENCED TO DEATH. RWAKAFUUZI TELLS REPORTER PETER CLOTTEY THAT THE CHARGES AGAINST HIS CLIENTS ARE POLITICALLY MOTIVATED.
