Extracting Gold From Used Cell Phones

Gold’s resistance to corrosion and its excellent electrical conductivity makes it very useful in the electronics industry, especially in smart phones. As the amount of discarded portable devices keeps rising, manufacturers are looking for ways to retrieve the precious metal. British scientists say they have found an environmentally non-hazardous method for separating gold from other metals. VOA’s George Putic reports.
